Eight people were shot at a restaurant in Vancouver's notorious east end early Thursday morning. Two people died, one person is in critical condition and five others were being treated for injuries after gunmen entered the Fortune Happiness Restaurant at about 4:30 am and opened fire.

Police are looking for two gunmen after one shooter allegedly entered from the front and one entered from the rear of the building.

Dozens of spent casings were found throughout the eatery.

"As soon as they entered the restaurant they started shooting," says Inspector Bob Chapman. "We have what may be 9-millimetre and 40 calibre shell casings on the floor, lots of them right now. We've had eight people who were shot. We currently have two people dead in the restaurant, and again six people at hospital right now with bullet wounds."

Authorities say the shooting appears to have been targeted but are not commenting on a motive.
