Iran's new nuclear negotiator Saeid Jalili is headed to Rome on his first mission in the new job -- a meeting with European Union foreign policy chief Javier Solana.
The 42-year-old diplomat, who has served a succession of Iran's leaders going back to 1989 in key background positions, will be travelling with Iran's outgoing chief negotiator Ali Larijani, a decision announced Sunday by the foreign ministry to give added backing to the newcomer on the job.
