102 killed in Lal Masjid operation: DC Islamabad

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Chaudhry Muhammad Ali said that 102 people were killed during the operation against the administration of Lal Masjid and Jamia Hafsa. The evidences of the presence of some foreigners among them have been found. Addressing a news conference in Islamabad, he said that 11 officials of the security forces were also included in the number of persons killed in the operation.
He told that the corpse of Maulana Abdul Aziz’s son Hassan Ghazi has been identified and he was laid to rest as amanat in the H-11 graveyard. Chaudhry Muhammad Ali said that 590 surrendered females have been handed over to their parents while the search for the families of three girls is going on.
He said that 631 men surrendered and 386 of them were handed over to their parents whereas 243 are in prison.
He said that 39 cases were registered against the Ghazi Brothers out of which 21 are related to terrorism.
In a reply to a question, he said that a few dead bodies are unidentified and it is difficult to determine whether they are men or women. For this, DNA tests are being carried out and the help of finger prints is also being taken.
He said that the families of those dead people, who have been buried as amanat in the graveyard of H-11, are allowed to take after identifying the dead bodies.
Replying to a question, he said that curfew imposed in Sector G-6 will soon be lifted.
